Richest Criminals in History
Today we turn to the dark side. Let’s delve into the criminal underworld and allow us to show you the worst of the worst and the richest of the rich in criminal history. Now, don’t you get any ideas…
Pablo Escobar: $30 billion
Cocaine + Colombia = Pablo Escobar. Most of us must have at some point in our lives heard this name. He has earned his reputation over the years as the head of the Medellin Cartel. Although, obviously, the police hated him, the public fell in love with him. This was because he liked to shower them with gifts and also why he has made the top of our list.
Ochoa Brothers: $6 billion
Yet another two friends of the Medellin Cartel who seemed to have raked it in big time. They started in a steakhouse and have, over years, earned a reputation of ruthlessness. Their association with the Medellin Cartel has earned them $6 billion.
Jose Gonzalo Rodriguez Gacha: $5 billion
Yes, you guessed right, another associate of the Medellin Cartel. This man even had George W. Bush on his tail, being as rich as he was. When push came to shove he killed himself rather than giving himself up.
One last example of a Medellin friend is Carlos Lehder who was one of the founding fathers of the Medellin Cartel. He has earned himself $2.7 selling cocaine.
Griselda Blanco: $2 billion
Yes, you read correctly, we do have a woman on this list. Her hardcore reputation has earned her the nickname of “Black Widow”. She is the woman responsible for smuggling cocaine into the USA, enough to have earned her a couple billion dollars.
Al Capone: $1.3 billion
The list wouldn’t be complete without having mentioned Al Capone, reality’s Godfather. Apart from smuggling alcohol, he was known for killing, maiming and a list of other illicit activities that will make your hair stand on end.
Freeway Rick Ross: $600 million
This man has earned his money selling crack during the 90s. Crack is considered one of the cheaper drugs so imagine how much he had to sell in order to earn a net worth of $600 million.
Paul Lir Alexander: $170 million
He has helped the American government catch many cocaine smugglers, therefore allowing them to eliminate his competition. Quite smart only his plan caught up with him in 2005 when he was arrested. Being pegged as a conniving player from the start, it should come as no surprise that he managed to escape prison.
